Like people, music changes as the years pass. At the age of 5 I remember I would mostly listen to the music my parents listened too. Both my parents love to dance Cumbia and salsa at parties, so I grew up listening to Mexican artist such as Senora Dynamita, Celia Cruz, Mickey Taveras and Joe Arroyo. Every party I went to I would always hear the same tracks playing. At age 5 I really didn’t know what songs I liked since I was young, but I slowly started liking Celia Cruz and Senora Dynamita. When I was 10 my taste of music drastically changed, which was influenced by my peers. I was listening to a large variety of music, from Spanish music to English genres. I listened to salsa, hip hop, and rap. Hip hop and rap were famous among the friends I hung out in middle school. My friends and I would listen to artist such as Eminem, Ludacris, Bow Wow, Chamillionaire, and 50 Cents. From the artists I listened to my favorite music was “Act a Fool” by Ludacris, which was a soundtrack to one of my favorite movie “Fast and Furious”. At age 15 I stopped listening to salsa and rap, the new music that were being made by rap and salsa artist weren’t as good as the previous years. I started listening to techno artist from Europe and Mexico. Some artist included Basshunter, DJ Tiesto, and DJ Polimarch. My favorite song was “DotA” by Basshunter, his music was always high energized. The unique style of electronic music put me in a good mode. Looking back to my childhood and teenage years my taste of music has change. Some of the changes were influenced by friends, family member and radio.
